The Social Democrats USA in contrast to many political parties does not have an elaborately detailed political program. These elaborate programs of left and right political parties in general only show the aspirations of these organizations and not that in which they are actively engaged. Thus they may in fact cover up the true nature of these organizations. What the SDUSA does have are a set of principles that do show some of the basic parameters of SD belief and action.
However SD members do hold vary definite views on Social Democracy, Socialism, and various issues of domestic and foreign policy. Below are some of the articles that are at least representative of come current of SD thinking. These articles show how Social Democrats are attempting to engage in the traditions of socialism and the issue of justice and peace in today's world

Why Socialism Now? Why Socialism Now was written by David Hacker, vice president and historian of the SDUSA, at the time of the fall of the Soviet Union and of the other so called socialist nations of Eastern Europe. Unfortunately the movement toward democratic forms socialism has not much progress since to early 90s in spite of the word of person such as Glenn Beck. However David's article still shows clearly the difference between the reality of the socialist ideal and the tyrannical systems that masqueraded as socialism of the old Soviet block.
Socialism: A Four Letter Word Chris Woodson has written a good article discussing the how the word socialism is still used as a dirty word in the mainstream media and explains why socialists need to pro actively define their own identity.
An Alternative Socialism: Glenn King believes that for socialism to be credible in the 21st Century it must strongly support an alternative vision of the future to that of capitalism. He see the roots of this vision beginning in the alternative anti statist vision of many of the oldest of socialist traditions. He thinks that modern examples of worker ownership and management of cooperative firms are strongly indicative of what a socialist future could look like.
